This event has ended.

hpgrp GALLERY NY presents “Zero Art,” an event featuring works by innovative and fresh contemporary Japanese artists ranging in age from 14 to 90-years-old, many of whom have never before shown in New York.

Unlike a traditional art fair, in which the galleries apply for booths and then choose the artists to show, in “Zero Art,” it is the artists themselves who are applying for a space to set up their own exhibitions. Opening the field beyond the traditional art world paradigm allows for a much more varied experienced for viewers, and brings attention to those ordinarily considered to be “outsider artists.” At “Zero Art,” such artists will be able to directly interact with the viewer — and in doing so, will gain a more international profile.

At the end of the event, a panel of judges will choose an artist they deem has presented the best work at the fair. The judges are Brienne Walsh (writer for The New York Times, Interview, Art in America), Dominique Nahas (Independent curator and critic/NY Editor-dART International),), and Kosuke Fujitaka (Co-founder of New York Art Beat, Tokyo Art Beat). The winner will be announced on JANUARY 25TH.
