This event has ended.

Segal divides her time between New York City and Springs on the eastern end of Long Island where she is inspired by the landscape. She is fascinated by the ever-changing light on the water and the land. The vast sky, winds and tides change from moment to moment. The effect of light playing over the water is endlessly captivating, as is the water’s movement and transparency contrasting with the solidity of the rock jetty. Outside one studio window a cluster of tall milkweed is dramatically transformed throughout the day by the changing light as the sun travels from east to west.

A native New Yorker, Segal’s art education began at the High School of Music & Art. Her studies continued at Bard College, the Art Students League and the New York Studio School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts with a major in art history from Barnard College. Her paintings have been shown in galleries in Manhattan, East Hampton, upstate New York and Berlin, Germany. In her earlier career she worked in clay; her raku work has been shown in four solo shows and in invitational group exhibitions from New York to Hawaii.
