Rubin 415 and David Head “Bad Vibes”

This event has ended.

We walk backwards into the future. Framing what’s coming in terms of the past. With imperfect understanding and absent foresight we romanticize and fetishize the historical moments of our collective experience. Happy, sunny California dreaming… a bohemian golden age romanticized incompletely. But… the bad intertwines with the good. The edges between the two flicker and vibrate. Cyan and magenta inks abut and vibrate on the paper of a psychedelic poster. Like Charlie and the Beach Boys. Good vibes and bad. Creepy crawlies. The center cannot hold. This is where it’s real. In the complexity and nuance where accepted, received paradigms fail.

The collaborators of Bad Vibes come from a very different background: Rubin, originally from Finland and raised in Sweden, has a traditional Graffiti background; David David R Head Jr is a designer and fine artist from San Antonio and comes from a punk rock background. Based on the ‘dark’ side of the psychedelic era, the exhibition combines, sound installation, site specific murals and serigraph prints in a palette limited to only Magenta and Cyan. Ten new editions by each artist will be published in correspondence to this exhibition.
