Róza El-Hassan (b. 1966, Budapest) is an artist of Syrian/Hungarian nationality, who works and lives in Budapest. Showcasing El-Hassan’s acute sensibility, her exhibition will include wooden figures, works on paper, wall-drawings and mixed media sculptures. Since the beginning of 2012, she is one of the organizers of Syrian Voices, which serves as a platform for artists inside Syria as well as in the diaspora.
El-Hassan’s social intervention and social design projects, as well as objects and drawings have been exhibited widely and internationally. She represented Hungary in 1997 at the Venice Biennale. Institutional solo exhibitions include Kunstmuseum Basel (2012); Mücsarnok/Kunsthalle, Budapest (2006); Drawing Center New York (2003); Secession, Vienna (2000); Ludwig Museum Budapest and De Vleeshal, Netherlands (both 1999); and Neue Galerie am Landesmuseum, Graz (1995).
