Derrick B. Harden, also known as ‘Dear Derrick’, announces the next chapter of his curatorial journey. The Jamie Project is a two-weekend showcase opening on Saturday, September 13, featuring a music release and the works of artist Andrew Guenther at SHOW ROOM | Gowanus in Brooklyn, New York.

The Jamie Project is the title of a music compilation by Dear Derrick, named after what really inspired him to continue producing and performing his musical talents and her name is Jamie. If love and admiration can move mountains this album and art show are testament. The Jamie Project EP consists of four tracks that are very different from Dear Derrick’s previous art-conceptual mixtapes. It provides a smooth, feel-good tale of when a thug falls in love. Join us for this very special moment of its release.

Like the music of Dear Derrick, Andrew Guenther’s work is also inspired by deeply personal experiences, translated and distilled to universal themes of self in order to transcend ego. Guenther’s work combines multidimensional ideas and flattens them into two-dimensional spaces. As he puts it best, “I fill blank spaces with vivid depictions of daydreams.” Guenther pushes color and form, all the while acknowledging the absurdity of contemporary culture and artifice. In his work, we see the reduction of internal conflict to the likes of invented 8-bit video game screenshots and self-aware figures in space rendered transparent with organs in plain view.
