This event has ended.

A solo exhibition featuring the works of Aomi Kikuchi, a japanese artist who works with silk and fabric dyes. This is her first solo exhibition in New York.

Kikuchi uses silk because she believes silk lusters and is delicate and beautiful. Her imagination grows when in contact with this mysterious fabric. She feels the urge to draw these beautiful things and whether it is just her imagination or something she sees in nature. While consistently changing color palettes, often times she uses fascinating colors and sometimes uses a monochromatic color palette. As time lapses, her “marks” on the silk starts to fade, however there is nothing she can do to stop it. She believes the transience of life is also a charm, in which is an ongoing experiment.

Aomi Kikuchi graduated from the Kyoto University of Art and Design and has been working in Japan. She has exhibited in various museums in Japan (Tokyo Metropolitan Museum, The New National Museum & Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art) She has recently relocated to New York and is hoping to study more of the art scene in NYC while enhancing her works.
