Wataru Takahama Exhibition
Ouchi Gallery
This event has ended.
Born in Hokkaido, Japan in 1986, currently living in Asahikawa city in Hokkaido.
He graduated from the Shikoku University after studying Japanese calligraphy.
He produces works of “sho” (calligraphy) delivering characters and words.
Based in Hokkaido, he has received numerous awards from exhibitions and art fairs both in Japan and overseas.
Wataru’s theme is “the spirit of text”. In his “sho”, he explores the true existence and meanings of Japanese characters, depicting the moment that letters and words change into “kotodama” (word spirits).
While learning from the classics, Wataru seeks new expressions of “sho” with his free and unique ideas rather than the conventional ideas of Japanese calligraphy.
