During the 2012-2013 academic year, students from El Puente Academy took part in a school-wide multi-disciplinary Integrated Arts Project (IAP) – El Puente’s arts-based collaborative program that corresponds with core academic curriculum. The project focused on the theme of legacy and cultural preservation. As part of the IAP, students in the 10th grade visual art class created a series of “portraits of power” based around ideas of legacy, history, power, and cultural identity. The project aligned with the students’ history lessons of European imperialism and culminated in an exhibition of works at El Puente’s annual Integrated Arts Project showcase, El Carnaval del Santo Legado.
