This event has ended.

Original artwork and compilation of stories from Brooklyn’s Rescued Bestiary, based on Sean Casey Animal Rescue and created by Strike Three Press.

This display shows the process of producing the book Brooklyn’s Rescued Bestiary, written by Virginia M. Cahill and illustrated by David G. Klein. The exhibit features page proofs and the engraved plates used in printing. The book is a collection of stories about some of the animals from the Sean Casey Animal Rescue (SCAR) in Windsor Terrace. It is a
letterpress-printed, hand-bound book, limited to 68 copies, published by Strike Three Press.

Sean Casey Animal Rescue takes in confiscated, neglected, injured, or otherwise unwanted animals. They are cared for until forever homes can be found. Virginia interviewed Sean
Casey, volunteers and staff who work with him at the shelter, and people who have adopted animals. This book documents the work of Casey, his volunteers and his more notable cases.
David G. Klein, a professional illustrator, volunteered to do portraits of the animals. Proceeds from the sale of Brooklyn’s Rescued Bestiary benefit SCAR.

Strike Three Press is Virginia Cahill (a freelance graphic designer) and Daniel Smith (an art director at The Wall Street Journal).
