This event has ended.

Frogwell is an improvising unit incorporating elements of conceptual and performance art.

Formed in the Spring of 2009, Frogwell plays many things not originally intended to be instruments as well as traditional instruments played unconventionally. Much of Frogwell’s sound is manipulated electronically and lyrics and chord progressions are eschewed for concepts and timbres. During performances, members of Frogwell have:
• fallen asleep
• traded instruments in a game of musical chairs
• appeared in masks or costumes
• played a long concert outdoors at sunrise

Animal Whiteness in Repose is Frogwell’s first studio album, released in Autumn of 2013. The title of the album (actually a DVD) is borrowed from a translation of Mallarmé’s “L’après-midi d’un faune.” The concept derives from readings and subjective interpretations of the Rigveda and the Ramayana. There are 5 texts, each read by a member of the band. There are also 5 videos made by each band member—all accompanied by a primordially immersive Frogwell soundscape.

On the night of January 31st 2014, Frogwell will give a special performance in which Animal Whiteness in Repose will be featured, sometimes in the foreground, sometimes in the background.

The lineup of Frogwell is Robert Hardin (AKA Rothwell), Richard Kamerman (AKA Fredwell), Bob Lukomski (AKA Bobwell), Jeremy Slater (AKA Froggy), and Tamara Yadao (AKA Tamaray).
