As an avid cigar smoker, pioneer Soho gallery owner Ivan Karp (1926-2012) opened OK Cigars in 1997 once the gallery forbade the timeless ritual. Unfortunately, with Karp’s recent passing, OK Cigars so too has passed. In homage to Karp’s visionary endeavors, “Everything’s OK” will be taking over our gallery for an active five day exhibition of the hand-finished limited edition photo book about OK Cigars, as well as black and white photographs from the OK Project by OK’s tobacconist, resident smoker and photographer Gavin Baker. Also included in the exhibition are collected curios and relics that made OK Cigars such a beloved and unique shop. We invite you to attend and participate in the storytelling that surrounds these various pieces from its culture!
As the shop has recently closed its doors after 17 years of fulfilling service, We would like to invite any and all OK fanatics to come show your love, share what OK means to you, and to express the future of the OK philosophy. We will continue to collect these impressions so the world knows who we are and where we are (we are everywhere)!
