This event has ended.

The Nippon Gallery hosts the exhibition of Glass Art by Kuniko Katada, one of the pioneers of fusing glass art in Japan.

Ms. Katada is the founder of the glass studio, Atelier Kuni in Tokyo, Japan, and a senior advisor of the Venetian Glass Museum in Hakone. Her works, mainly on wild flower motif represented by her own creative technique, have been highly reputed.
At this exhibition, she introduces inspirational stained glass and fusing glass works based on the Japanese traditional motif, Rimpa School of painting. Her exhibit includes two-section and four-section “byobu” (folding screens), mirrors, letter boxes, and accessories.

The exhibition also features collaborated works with Dr. Kenji Takano, a collector of antique prints. She made stand glass and fusing glass frames coordinated with such antique prints as John James Audubon’s “Birds of America” and Art Deco prints. These works are quite unique, and exhibited for the first time in New York.
