International Print Center New York presents New Prints 2014/Winter, on view at 508 West 26th St, 5th Floor, from January 22 - March 12, 2014. The exhibition consists of over fifty projects and was selected from more than 3,000 prints. New Prints 2014/Winter is the forty-seventh presentation of IPCNY’s New Prints Program, a series of juried exhibitions organized by IPCNY several times each year, featuring prints made within the past twelve months. An illustrated brochure with a curatorial essay by Madeleine Viljoen (Curator of Prints, The New York Public Library) accompanies the exhibition.

New Prints 2014/Winter consists of lithographs, digital prints, silkscreens, woodcuts, site-specific installations, and other manifestations of both traditional and unorthodox printmaking techniques. Highlights include: Bundith Phunsombatlert’s Art within One Mile: The Route from Central Park to Brooklyn Bridge, a project that invites the public to embark on journeys to discover the city’s public art. Though it was originally site-specific, the piece has been adapted by the artist to fit this exhibition as an inventive wall installation. Matthew Van Asselt’s series, Places I’d Like to Park (#1, #2, #3), uses identical screenprints on three different photographs, thus playing with the concept of editioning and varied replication. DM Witman creates celestial night images by working with common slugs and their biological movements. During the night, slugs move along gelatin silver paper in a darkroom and make marks on the paper with their secretions. Ben Hilario-Caguiat creates anime-inspired prints and sculptures, such as the the abstract, aquatint etching dream-world, Ruby. The works in this show address a wide range of styles, emotions and subjects - including memory, architecture, portraiture, and abstraction.
