Salim was born in Rome, January 2nd, 1977. At the age of 16 he begins to pick up photography, and a year later moves to New York to finish his studies. At only 19 he begins working from 1999 to 2002, as assistant to renowned photographer Mario Testino.

From 2002 to 2004 professor Boris Frumin, of NYU Tisch, invites him to follow classes and work with students on many film projects.

After this period Salim goes back to the fashion world and begins shooting for several publications world wide, including French and German Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Visionaire, and many others.

In 2009 he has his first show in New York, in collaboration with David Mushegain and PC Valmorbida; curated by Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld.

The same year he moves to Paris and opens Billy Nava, a photo collaboration with friend and photographer Edoardo de Ruggiero. In the next five years they produce images for luxury brands such as Dior, Elisabeth Arden, Ports 1961; and collaborate with several magazines, including French Vogue, Self-Service and many more. In this period they shoot many pop icons from Jude Law, Justin Bieber, Michael Fassbender, Kate Moss and others.

In May of this year he was invited by the city of Lecce, Italy; place of birth of his father, to have his first solo exhibition, Albedo.
