This event has ended.

Astro nuts, who calls himself “Stuffed animal artist”, creates various lively animals with his own new technique and expression. After passing through a background of fashion design, he cuts fabric freely without any patterns and produces three-dimensional forms. Astro nuts expresses not only animals’ cuteness but also life’s peculiarities using human hair, eyelashes for make up and antique fabric among others. The stuffed animals, which might be a symbol of childhood innocence, glance straight at the irrationality of contemporary society and the contradiction of the adult world.

Cinnamon Willis’s sculptures can be referred to as dolls, but they are not meant to be played with. Willis likes to work with expressions, her pieces usually display a hint of sadness which is why she called them Melandollys. We are constantly surrounded with images of cheerful people in media and it conditions us to believe something is wrong when we feel otherwise. She juxtaposes these undesirable feelings with dolls since they are normally thought of as smiling objects of play and confront the viewer with emotions that are normally reserved for the privacy of one’s home. This is her way of encouraging people to be more comfortable with their inner feelings and accept that we are not perfect.
