This event has ended.

In today’s Japanese culture, a traditional lifestyle of wearing “KIMONO” and “OBI” (traditional Japanese garments and its belt) and using “WASHI” (handmade Japanese paper) are disappearing, and as a result, their traditional craftsmanship are deteriorating. Mitsuyasu Yokota has been presenting new forms of art that merges “tradition” and “contemporary” by combining traditional Japanese crafts such as fabrics for “KIMONO” and “OBI” and “WASHI” with synthetic gems and glasses. Skills and techniques of traditional Japanese crafts were reborn in forms of new artwork as “WAGARASU”. Yokota’s “WAGARASU” presented here at this exhibition unleashes the spirits of Japan which are represented by the traditional crafts that has been passed down for hundreds and thousands of years. 20 pcs of screens and stands for flower vase will be displayed at this exhibition.
