This event has ended.

Fred Fleisher addresses the cultural noise that surrounds and engulfs our everyday lives, asking imperative, yet often neglected, questions. Why do people live in a constant state of medium to high alert? What is it that is being masked? What is looked for via self-help and spiritual texts? A fear of death? Of not being heard? With his use of vibrant color and popular cultural icons, the work provides a portal into a Jungian-like unconscious dream state. Hovering and vibrating, it subverts above and below states of mind, humorously yet poignantly provoking the viewer to find their own answers.

Fred Fleisher was born in Pennsylvania and after an enlistment in the Army attended Penn State University earning degrees in Painting and Drawing and Art Education. He lives in Brooklyn and received my MFA from Queens College. He has exhibited work in the U.S. and internationally. Currently, he has representation in Berlin with Rockelmann & and with Concepto Hudson, Hudson, NY. Most recently, he was included in exhibits at Concepto Hudson, Rockelmann &, ABC NO RIO, NYC and Artshare LA. He has been a visiting artist/lecturer at ICP Bard, Montclair State University and teaches part-time at SUNY – Old Westbury and Hudson County Community College, Jersey City, NJ.
