Grady Alexis Gallery

This event has ended.

The Grady Alexis Gallery at El Taller Latino Americano presents Through Women’s Eyes, featuring the work of New York-based artists Antonia Guerrero (Mexico), Shifi Rathaus (Israel) and Nina Talbot (US).

Antonia Guerrero’s drawings and mixed media works revolve around issues of identity and the relationship between ancient history and contemporary culture. Guerrero has exhibited in Mexico, the US, Puerto Rico, France and Spain. She received grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and the Mexican-US Bicultural Rockefeller Foundation.

Shifi Rathaus’ series “Baby Trees in New York City” consists of small-scale portraits of young street trees that explore the relation between the community and its trees. Rathaus received a BA from The Hebrew University, a Diploma of Practical Engineering from Haddasah College in Jerusalem and is pursuing a MFA at Lehman College. Her work has been exhibited at the Jewish Theological Seminary and the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance.

Nina Talbot creates visually complex mixed media works informed by the multiplicity of cultures in her New York community. Talbot studied at the Art Students League, The Philadelphia College of Art, and The New York Studio School. She received grants from the Brooklyn Historical Society and The Brooklyn Arts Council. Exhibitions include The Brooklyn Museum, The Bronx Museum, The US Army Heritage Museum and the US Department of Veterans Affairs Museum. Talbot’s publications include “Painting Brooklyn, Stories of Immigration and Survival,” a children’s book, “Sophie’s Stories,” and the upcoming “Veterans.”
