ArtNowNY presents Novocaine, the first NYC solo show for Carly Ivan Garcia, an internationally-exhibited California-based painter. A self-proclaimed “neo-abstract expressionist,” Garcia’s compositions and color-palettes evoke a restless energy that nods to the past, drawing on the work of artists like de Kooning and Guston, yet speaks directly to our overstimulated present. The paintings comprising Novocaine are the direct manifestation of Garcia’s love for hyper-movement and figurative gesture.
