“A History of Progress, Violence and The Modern Spectacle” Exhibition
Here Gallery
This event has ended.
Pairing a contemporary digital sensibility with traditional practices ranging from painting, lace-work, collage, and the recent past of early video game technology, these artists explore our complex relationship with visual information. Whether exposing the propagandistic violence that underlies mainstream media “documentation”, reveling in the non-sense of video gaming, or lending permanence to the fleeting but deep emotional truths communicated through social media, these are works that question how a digital lens effects our experience of veracity, culpability, and empathy.
