Boram Lee “Regeneration”
bcs Gallery
This event has ended.
Boram Lee’s work evokes the meaning of destruction and rebirth, and visualizes regeneration. It takes a form of the organic phenomenon of cell, the fundamental unit of a living thing. The continuity of life comes from cell division and multiplication. Lee shows this dynamic and infinite phenomenon with everyday objects in this exhibition.
In two-dimensional works, she disassembles and relocates the patterns of wooden floorings in order to redefine the grain in conflict and harmony. And she draws on them by the reading a life from the incomplete and irregular patterns of grain. In her sculptures, in addition, Lee places thousands of roughly sharpened pencils very tightly in the gap of chopped birch to create the tension in between destruction and recovery.
