ZERO ART at hpgrp GALLERY NEW YORK is an event featuring works by innovative and fresh contemporary artists from Japan, many of whom will hold their inaugural exhibits in New York.

Unlike a traditional art fair in which galleries apply for booth space and then choose the artists to exhibit, at ZERO ART the artists themselves apply for a space to set up their own exhibitions. Opening the field beyond the traditional art world paradigm allows for a much more varied experience for viewers, and brings attention to those ordinarily considered to be “outsider artists.” At ZERO ART, such artists are able to directly interact with the viewer— and in doing so, artists gain a more international profile.

At the end of the event, a panel of judges will choose artists they deem have presented the best works at ZERO ART The chosen artists will receive a cash prize to esteem their work in the two categories Gallery Prize and Jurors’ Prize. The winners of ZERO ART will be announced in January 2015.
