This event has ended.

Peter Arnell has held a multitude of prestigious titles and earned countless accolades, but at his core, he has ultimately always been an aesthete—a man with a deep appreciation for and understanding of beauty. “I think you can make anything look beautiful,” he says, “It is in the eye of the beholder, as the saying goes.”

You’ve undoubtedly seen his work in the pages of magazines, or displayed larger than life on New York City billboards, but for the first time you’ll be able to see Arnell’s images as he has always envisioned them. PHOTOGRAPHS 1984 - 2014 by PETER ARNELL,” presented by Milk Gallery, is a thirty-year retrospective of Arnell’s personal photography. Images that, until now, had only been seen by friends and colleagues.

One of Arnell’s closest friends, the iconic architect Frank Gehry, will design and curate the exhibition in a collaboration that was years in the making. “I’ve known Frank for 33 years and have been working with him in various capacities my whole adult life,” Arnell says. “He’s always asked me to put my pictures together in an organized fashion, so I said ‘I’ll do it, but you’ve got to help me.’”

The collection of black and white images captures Arnell’s favorite subjects: city skylines, iconic buildings and structures, minute details, and life constantly in motion on the city streets. “[I] really just try to study, and act as a witness to the world around me.”
