In clear pause Mary McDonnell deepens her exploration of color, structure, and mark making. This body of work is borne of incident, with paint, panel, interruption and reconstruction as way points in the process. In these new paintings each vibrant color asserts a unique life force and becomes a character formed of wet calligraphic markings or masses of interlacing lines.
