The Mississippi aesthetic is a mysterious concoction equal parts beauty, truth, and whimsy. Mississippi Rising is an open invitation to explore that aesthetic in the works of today’s emerging artists. Regardless of the subject there is a consistent well-considered complexity in each artists’ approach: from “Pop” to portraits, colorful wood block prints to photography, “found object” sculpture to ceramics to mixed media; it is an exceptional representation of the current artistic themes prevalent in Mississippi. Mississippi Rising provides a unique opportunity to experience the Mississippi aesthetic first hand.
