Iku Higuchi “Kanro”
Tenri Cultural Institute
This event has ended.
Iku Higuchi was a sculptor before she became a painter. At the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston she made ceramic and bronze sculptures. Iku gradually lost interest in working in three dimensions as she started painting in water color and oil - and discovered that creating works in two dimensions woke up the mind to new intellectual excitement. After moving to New York, she mastered the more detailed and complex processes of printmaking at NYU and at Bob Blackburn’s Printmaking Workshop. Iku received her MFA from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia.
