“Dead Ringer” Exhibition
Fowler Project Space
This event has ended.
Combining various forms of image-making and sculpture, each artist confronts the psychological distance between a photographic representation of an event and its physical reality. From Curcio’s visceral recreations of the iceberg that sunk the Titanic, to Gilsdorf’s flags that explore the symbolism of archetypal moments and materiality, to Henson’s amalgamation of images of cultural ideology, these works recontextualize iconic images and communicate the symbolic power of historical photographs, showing an incisive understanding of how images shape collective experience and the cultural memory of events.
