Berlin Collective presents Australian-based artist Brad Robson’s new work in the exhibition, Blindsight at Gallery Brooklyn and is his first solo show in New York for this highly prolific Sydney based artist.

As the word blindsight denies total vision, it can also intensify what is visible and strengthen the inner senses. With canvases alive with nostalgia and a personal journey mapped through the urban landscape, Robson’s works “reflect on the emotional journey one takes, when navigating the developed world and beyond, contemplating our place within.”

Inspired by the city streets and laneways of his hometown and beyond, his works are immensely gestural and instinctive, allowing the viewer a unique and insight into the artist’s connection to the world around him.

Lone figures stand amongst highly contrasting black and white vacant alleys. Abstracts demand attention with all the color and fervor of his metropolis. Blindsight is a collection of painted works that evoke a deeper meditation of the connection between self and the city.

Carolina Puente’s curatorial origins began at a Museum of Natural History and further developed while working for the Co-Founder/Director of Exit Art, the late Jeanette Ingberman. Notably in 2011, she curated the exhibition Driving in Circles with artist Nicole Cohen, at the Katzen Arts Center at American University Museum in Washington, D.C. She currently curates for Berlin Collective and lives and works in NYC.

Berlin Collective is a Global Arts Network/Artist Platform. It aims to support artists at all stages of their careers by combining emerging, mid-career, and established artists into exhibitions, conversations with artists/art critics, through our internship program, Berlin Collective Artist Editions, our pop-up shop, and special events/ performances.
