envoy enterprises presents our third solo exhibition of new work by David Alexander Flinn, Nor Here Nor There, featuring an array of metallic sculptures ranging from delicate roses inset in the gallery’s ceiling to a large driftwood branch cast in solid aluminum poised on a stone.

There once was

One day a long time ago

Once there lived a King

Once upon a time

At the beginning of time

In A Very Old Time

Long, Long time ago

The exploraion of nostalgia and one’s moral gauges begins with our first interactions

with the world, when our caretakers begin to sing to us and tell us stories.

This serves as an introduction to the world of human interaction, and the beginning of a long moral molding.

The show explores the stories from another perspective, allowing the viewer to ‘hear’ a different angle to this often simplistic metaphor.

The presentation of alternate versions allows for these grand constructions to fail and begin to existence in our reality, serving a palpable purpose.

The breaking of the sword in the stone, the horse pull hanging from a pipe, a neon bulb behind a gate, are the removal of the idyllic and the insertion of the tangible.

The magical is internal and permanent.
