This event has ended.

Alexa Williams has been contemplating and depicting landscapes for over 10 years using varied media including painting, collage and work on steel.

In her latest project “Where We Stand”, she builds concrete tiles using cement and organic material foraged form coastlines. The sand, stones, and grass are gathered from places that hold sentimental value to the native New Yorker such as the recently devastated Rockaway Beach, Breezy Point, and her own neighborhood, Red Hook. Williams’ work considers strength of footing in a city recovering from Sandy, the tenuousness of a moment, and the challenge of civilization vs. wilderness.
