Dream Recorder.

“I wake up at 4 am every morning, and would search under my pillow for my pen and pad without even opening my eyes. Each night it became habit to place these items under the pillow upon which I laid my head. I think of this as a way to prepare myself for the journey to “that place.” There, I would find silver pandas and flamingos wearing panties as well as whales spouting flowers and ginko trees floating on the water. I always yearned to go there, and remembered everything through my drawings. Sometimes, I did not open my eyes and held on tightly to the images before reaching for my pen, so that I would remember every detail. At times, the images are sharp and clear, but for the most part, they are blurry, like old photographs. Last night I dreamed that my cousin had unraveled a giant cotton candy and had made a blanket out of the fibers, and was sleeping under it. I quickly wrote down today’s date and captured the image on my pad. This is the first recording of the day. In this aspect, I feel that it is perhaps more accurate to refer to myself as a recorder rather than a painter”
