Nyeema Morgan "Forty-Seven Easy Poundcakes Like grandma Use To Make"
BRIC
This event has ended.
BRIC Arts presents an installation of Forty-Seven Easy Poundcakes Like grandma Use To Make, a series of 47 text-based digital drawings by interdisciplinary Brooklyn artist Nyeema Morgan. The drawings, which will be presented in BRIC Rotunda Gallery's Project Room, are amalgamations of 47 variable "easy pound cake" recipes gathered from the results of Google Internet searches, and including the artist's grandmother's recipe. All 47 recipes were sequentially edited into one another with redirected word placement and negated superfluous text. The resulting 47 drawings are completely unique, despite identical procedures, and information. At the opening reception on March 13, Morgan will present a tasting of all 47 easy pound cake recipes used in creating the drawings, baked by volunteers.
