Pretty Funny Alone is an exhibition of lively video, installation and performance exploring material, psychology and metaphors of heartache & courtship. It comprises a video work Pretty Funny Alone capturing the artist in her studio over time; an installation that forms a ‘Mixed-media Visual Diary’ featuring photos, prints, poems, comedic stories, drawings, and fabric overlays; and two performances; Actions For No Action; Free”, a roaming performance and Drawing Speed Dating with Jade Walsh, a one night event.*

* Drawing Speed Dating with Jade Walsh is a one night event that will happen on Thursday, September 19th. Participants will draw each other while getting to know each other in a limited time while Walsh will also draw and host the event. The pictures will be posted on Walsh’s website during the show following the reception and documentation and notes of speed dating participants’ future interactions and dates will be posted.

Free; Actions for no Action
This roaming performance is a week long daily site-specific performance about the notion of “Free” ; chance in a public space and “Actions for no Action”, looking for something that you don’t have (such as romantic love or friendship) Each day I will propose an active challenge in public that involves an interaction with people, and following the action, leave in the gallery or on the website, a remnant of it (such as a phone number or photographic documentation). These daily performances/interactions will lead into the final performance; Drawing Speed Dating Night with Jade Walsh. Free; Actions for no Action will run daily for a week 13th – 19th September and be documented on the artist’s and gallery’s websites.
