This event has ended.

Berlin Collective presents, To Deny Our Nothingness, curated by Carolina Puente, with selected Berlin Collective artists for a group exhibition at Gallery Brooklyn in Red Hook.

To Deny Our Nothingness is inspired by a book written in 1967 by Maurice S. Friedman. Focused on existentialism and contemporary images of man in the 1960’s, the book explores a 1959 MoMA exhibition titled The New Images of Man, a visual capsule of horrors and absurdities expressed through abstract and non-objective paintings and sculptures. To Deny Our Nothingness takes on these subjects in our current times, looking to strike a balance between “Being” and “Nature”. Each artist from the collective makes their own interpretation of “Being” and “Nature”, revealing the space between joy and sorrow, the continued renewal of humanity, and the willingness to preserve it.
