This event has ended.

Opulent color and dynamic line define Meier’s oil paintings. Meier transforms several of her canvases into kaleidoscopic twists of energy radiating from a center core. Others become puzzles of overlapping planes of color, some fractured and geometric, and some more fluid and organic. Meier paints exclusively on square canvases, which function either as single paintings or as parts of larger compositions consisting of multiple panels, as in the nine-panel painting Belgium Fence (2012), the largest in the exhibition. “Razzmatazz” is a transformative body of work in its in scale, complexity, and exuberance, and signals the maturation of Jackie Meier’s journey, which has gathered an impressive momentum.

Meier earned her M. F. A. in painting from Pratt Institute, NY and her B.A. from California College of the Arts in San Francisco, CA. She has shown widely in New York, including exhibitions at Janet Kurnatowski Gallery, Brooklyn, Andre Zarre, NY, and Denise Bibro, NY. In 2011, Meier participated in a group show, “Ghost in the Machine” curated by Stephen Westfall for Lennon, Weinberg, Inc., NY. Meier is a Visiting Artist at Pratt Institute and an Instructor at Concordia College. Her studio is based in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
