hpgrp GALLERY NEW YORK presents an upcoming event/exhibition, “MONSTER Exhibition 2013 in NY - New MONSTER created by next-generation artists” in our project space, ANNEX ART SPACE.

The event is a traveling exhibition of MONSTER exhibition that was held in SHIBUYA (TOKYO) in February 2013. MONSTER exhibition is one of the projects of RECOVER & REBUILD Japanese art & design. This NY exhibition includes an installation and six art works that were selected as awards of the previous MONSTER exhibition in SHIBUYA.Two New York based artists Kenzo Minami and Meguru Yamaguchi also join this event as invited artists. The installation is made by cooperation from Tohoku University, who provided infographic design and the research data of the Great East Japan Earthquake.MONSTER is the representation of the Tsunami that swallowed the coast of eastern Japan in March 2011. However, rather than aiming to simply convey the sadness of the natural disaster, our main purpose is to enjoy art together and learnfrom the consequences of the disaster through dialogue with art.
