This event has ended.

Soho Photo Gallery presents Fugitivart, a conceptual exhibition that explores the implications of fine art photographs as ephemeral objects.

Curated by Susan Keiser and Scott Lerman, Fugitivart explores how interjecting a new dimension—
intentional impermanence—might shake up the world of fine art photography. Every print in the show will have been ‘born’ just weeks before and engineered to fade away in 6–18 months.

The exhibition features the work of 23 artists and over 90 Fugitivart photographs—some over seven feet long. Every image has been chosen because it expresses the idea of being fugitive in a distinctive and visually arresting way.

By concentrating on the work, the images themselves, and not on how many were made, how long they will last, or their resale value, Fugitivart is intended to reengage artists and the public in the irreplaceable beauty, power, and expressiveness of the photographic print.

In addition to the exhibition at Soho Photo, there will be a discussion panel at the SVA Amphitheater on September 12th that explores the concept and possibilities of Fugitivart.
