ISE Cultural Foundation presents a group exhibition, “Underneath it all: Desire, power, memory & lingerie”, by Diane Bronstein.

“Underneath it all” is a nationally touring exhibit showcasing the work of eleven women artists from around the U.S. who use, interpret, and create lingerie. These artists utilize “womanly” arts, such as embroidery, quilting, sewing, and patterning, but employ unusual materials such as paper, eyeglass lenses, poodle fur and seashells. Other artists elevate bras and panties into portraiture and sculpture. The work ranges from satirical to political to deeply personal.

Artists include recycled material sculptor Ingrid Goldbloom Bloch, hand sewn paper garment creator Diane Bronstein, digital collage artist Joanne Kaliontzis, and painter Lisa Knox, painter Amanda N. Simons, hand made paper garment artist Erica Spitzer Rasmussen, sculptor Laura Ann Jacobs, printmaker Julie Harris, fabric sculptor April Dauscha and book artist Miriam Schaer.

The exhibit has been touring since July 2012 when it opened in Minneapolis at the Textile Center. The tour in 2013 included the Coconino Center for the Arts in Flagstaff, Arizona in January, the Cotuit Center for the Arts in Cotuit, Massachusetts in March, and the Fort Point Artists Community Gallery in Boston, Massachusetts in April.
