Displaying the dopest DIY stickers from New York and worldwide. Con Artist Collective is showing our appreciation for the heart and soul of sticker art: for the labor of love that it truly is. Featuring artists like Sure & Faust, Edec, and many more surprises, Slap is about showing love to the intricate brilliance that gives shine to those unassuming little white rectangles. From the painstakingly oblique curve of an S, to the idolized references in a K, all carved out with chiseled precision. From favela walls to urban street lights, these tiny pieces battle for supremacy amongst the “se renta quarto“‘s and the neon. With dedication, courage and commitment they leave their indelible mark on the world. Stickers may not necessarily endure the ferocity of the weather, the passage of time, nor well-funded urban clean-up programs. But, with effort and stylish execution, they may quickly be forever stuck in our city’s memory.
A limited edition zine will accompany the exhibit and will be for sale at the gallery starting March 27th.
