The Alumni Association of Tama Art University NY Club presents “Home Away From Home Ⅸ” (HAFH Ⅸ), The Alumni.

TAMA Art University Alumni Association’s NY Club was established in 2003. In 2013, we celebrate our tenth anniversary. We currently have a membership of nearly 80: mostly Tristate area residents plus some residents of Japan. 25 member artists will participate in this exhibition.

HAFH is an acronym of Home Away From Home. There are two meanings, two points to this title. The first is that living far away from home makes us more aware of Japan, where we came from, and conscious of our identity. The other is to present creations that break through our own barriers by making our efforts in New York, the center of the world’s art market.

The first HAFH Exhibition was in 2004; this is the ninth HAFH exhibition. HAFH has earned a top reputation as a fully fascinating exhibition where participating artists display their unique expressions and sensibilities. It has been held in many locations, including galleries in Chelsea and the Hammond Museum in North Salem, New York. The exhibitors have tried various challenges each time. In the Tenri gallery, which became the exhibition place starting last year, their large space and high ceiling give exhibitors the possibility of a further challenge.
