This event has ended.

Tectonic Drift featuring Amanda Church, Brian Cypher, Stacy Fisher, Gary Petersen, and Russell Tyler has an ensemble of works that accentuates a prevalent and a playful energy in the use of colors, shapes and composition. It is the driving force behind pure self-expression and the constantly changing landscape of nature and human consciousness; that that can be built in this world and just as easily be destroyed.

Amanda Church’s use of defined shapes and electric color palette offers a static trance within alizarin lines. Brian Cypher’s display of organic forms and bold geometric patterns focuses on the geology and ecology of his native Northwestern Pacific environment. Stacy Fisher’s new hydrocal sculptures and the only three-dimensional pieces of our show, visually compete with the physical space that surrounds it. Gary Petersen’s rhythmic compositions of geometric friction, give a new look to the idea of constantly shifting borders reminiscent of tectonic plates. He presents a waltz between lightness and heavy opacity. Russell Tyler confronts the crude digital landscapes of 8-bit graphics through his oil saturated canvases. His work exhibits the act of painting as opposed to the painted surfaces. These five artists are dedicated laborers to the velvety environment, the adventurous geometrics, and complex language of color, space, inner space and nature.
