Corrasable, 2013

Arpabet, a development of the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) as a part of their Speech Understanding Project, is a phonetic transcription code that breaks down words into phonemes which are then represented as a sequence of ASCII characters. The transcribed code is more or less human readable, and has been used by various speech synthesizers.

Eaton’s Corrasable Bond is a brand of erasable typewriting paper that was popularized in the 1950s and 60s. The paper’s glazed coating provides an erasable surface, that through friction, can be removed once. The familiarity of the brand led “corrasable” to became eponymous for all erasable typing papers.

http://www.corrasable.com/ exists as a freely available API to perform transformations on text. It’s source code is released concurrently with the exhibition.

Tetradic Edit, 2013
