This event has ended.

An exhibition by Taisan Tanaka, one of Japanese leading calligraphic painting artists, and exhibit his art works under the theme of “Put smile on your face, and warmth in your heart.”

Tanaka has been producing his works of art with a motto of “Work hard while being playful and enjoying the process”. His world of art works expressed solely in black and orange calligraphic ink often have circular figures that appear so gentle, but strongly affect the viewers’ hearts, and melt them.

Thirty Japanese-style hanging wall scrolls with adorable Buddhism theme figures and matching handwritten wordings will be introduced at this up-coming exhibit.

The featured art work in this exhibition is “Heart Sutra” drawn in his original “pictograph” that transforms written characters to a figure.

Transformation of written characters to a figure, matching handwritten wordings to a figure, and combining handwritten wordings and figures represent Tanaka’s “pictograph”. The world he creates is always filled with the message of “Always be happy and smile.”
