This event has ended.

C24 Gallery presents the first solo exhibition in New York by New Orleans-based artist Regina Scully. Titled Entrance, the exhibition will present a new series of paintings.

Scully’s work continues to pose the question: are there other worlds and spaces we can enter beyond our known “reality,” a place where additional meaning is given to forms and their relationships to each other? Scully is driven as a painter to try to explore and explain these places. Through her imagination and intuition, she thinks of the painting as both a window and a portal. She explores as she paints and embarks on a journey with the painting while it is being created. The artist attempts to paint from an open universal point of view so that when the viewer enters a painting he or she understands and finds it familiar in a personal way.

Scully explains, “I try to hybridize disparate elements while also discovering new imaginary spaces that reference an archetypal entrance into the subconscious. My paintings do not try to tell the viewer what to see, instead they are meant to become a personalized dreamscape for the viewer, an enveloping labyrinth to enter and travel through, wherein the viewer experiences his or her own recollections and thoughts through association and memory.”

Within Scully’s paintings parallel worlds and cities come to life, inviting the viewer in to explore her dense micro universes. Her landscapes conger domestic and urban spaces that feel familiar yet are foreign and embody an unbridled energy.

Regina Scully lives and works in New Orleans, LA. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia and received her B.F.A. in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design. She has been included in numerous exhibitions including: Everyday Hybrid, Prospect1.5, Isaac Delgado Fine Art Gallery, New Orleans, LA; Prospect.2 Lafayette, Lafayette, LA; Double Crescent, curated by Dan Cameron, C24 Gallery, New York, NY; External, Eternal, Fitchburg Art Museum, Fitchburg, MA, among others. Her paintings are included in various private and public collections including the Microsoft Art Collection and the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation Collection.
