This event has ended.

Character of a Private Secrecy will exhibit her meticulously rendered paintings on antique clay poker chips.

A graduate of Cooper Union and commercial printer for over 30 years, she took advantage of changes in her working life to find a new venue. A set of antique clay poker chips captivated her interest and she began to experiment and explore the possibilities they offered.

“Old clay chips are an interesting medium that is both malleable and sensitive to surface manipulation. As a lover of animals and nature, I take great pleasure in sharing a personal vision that embraces a deep love and grief, of a living vanishing world within and around us all.

“Important elements of clay chips are their scale and surface. Scale has a way of funneling attention inward; bringing the viewer closer, and surface reflects outward the action of line and color. Through this type of medium and the subject matter, it is the intent of the artist to project a story of adoration, play, and examination of each subect’s personal private world”

McShane has been a resident of New York ever since entering Cooper Union.
