This event has ended.

Time Equities Inc. presents the newest exhibition at the West 10th Window: Blue Curry, Untitled (car tire, beans).

Blue Curry works with found objects and commonplace items to create elegant sculptures and installations that challenge one’s associations with the objects in use, effectively misusing everyday objects to strip them of their socioeconomic position. They become the raw materials of his idiosyncratic cultural production. Often drawing on the exoticized image of his Caribbean birthplace, he creates precise combinations that float between the ethnographic find, the tourist souvenir, and the contemporary art form. His work considers notions of authenticity, cliché, and image.

Curry was born in Nassau, Bahamas and is currently based in London. He received his BA in Photography and Multimedia from the University of Westminster, London and his MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College in 2009. Curry’s work has been shown around the world in group exhibitions including, NEST, The Hague, Amsterdam; Victoria & Albert Museum, London; P.P.O.W., New York; and the 2010 Liverpool Biennial, among many others. His work has been featured in several solo shows including AF Projects, London; Toomer Labzda, New York. He had his first solo institutional show at Nassauischer Kunstverein, Wiesbaden, Germany in 2011. In 2012, Curry was a resident at Omi International Arts Center.
