This event has ended.

Contemporary painter Paul M. Cote's abstract canvases implement dynamic production techniques through lusciously layered expressive strokes in vibrantly colored hues, creating all-over energetic compositions expressing sentiments, emotions and feelings inspired by and representative of our surrounding world.

Cote finds art historical precedence in Abstract Expressionism, the monumental movement so influential to abstract art's positive reception in the United States. Abstract expression involves on the part of the artist Surrealism's automatic revelation of the unconscious, an unbridled allowance of the body to freely express innermost feelings without conscious hindrance. Working in a similar style to Jackson Pollock, Cote works beyond the easel and lays his monumental canvases directly on the ground allowing him to move his entire body around the canvas. With movement embedded into the painting process itself, Cote incorporates space into his paintings through thick layering and at times, even intermixes into some of his canvases mixed materials including masks, stones, pieces of metal and shards of glass adding a sculptural quality to his thick layers of acrylic paint.

Producing single compositions, diptychs and even series, he titles his artworks after his intuitive inspirations including metaphors of planetary expansion, natural elements and personal emotions. Cote's monumental works explore the expansive possibilities of dynamic brushwork, opulent color and topographic layering in order to mirror the volatile workings of our ever-expanding contemporary world.

The award-winning artist Paul Cote exhibits internationally, and his art is treasured in public and private collections around the world.
