Jesse Neuman’s working band, WOLF FACE, is a collective who explore sound and improvisation within the structure of songs. Their debut album, “The World has Time to Bloom” features compositions and improvisation including growling prehistoric textures, emotive rock anthems, sultry Americana tinged ballads, inventive covers, raw progressive jazz snarls, rocktronica, and delicate chamber pieces. His trumpet ranges from close rough hewn whisper to dizzyingly processed dagger. Saxophonist Peter Epstein (Ralph Alessi, James Carney) coaxes angelic pleas and melodic gems. Vocalist Michelle Casillas (Ursa Minor) lends gorgeous shimmering vocals, while guitarists Oscar Rodriguez (Nakatomi Plaza) and Grey McMurray (Knights on Earth) embrace the songs with lush and screaming loops and soundscapes. Bassist Robert Jost (Tony Scherr, Saturday Night Live) and drummer Jeff Davis (Tony Malaby) are a fortress of preternatural instincts, pushing the band to the edge of its limits while holding the center. Teddy Kumpel’s mixing expertise exploits the timbre of each song individually, eliciting an indefinable palette of sound and style. Stream and download the album on Bandcamp, iTunes, or Amazon/Google Play.
