Ethan Greenbaum Exhibition

This event has ended.

KANSAS presents a solo exhibition of Ethan Greenbaum.

Ubiquitous prospective avenues-
reciprocity as a given circumstance,
but exploited within the framework.

Unflinching expanses cropped-
a calculated schema, rendered
(elusively) to a point, as a point.

A prop, a position, a proposition…
residual simulacrum, complimentary…
gaited, escalated, and annotated.

Stare from an elevated view-
prosaic, cyclical plans abound;
such a lush life-drunken trees,
sobbing in libraries. Dioramic drama,
according to now. Past lives passed.
Documents doctored, memories
in vitrines. A GIF, revised. A gift.

Horizontal becomes vertical;
vertical becomes pantomime.

“I never thought of this as theater…”

Sidenotes:

-orchestral concrete billows in flux
-processed colors, processing
-modular models, modeling
-annulled amalgamations

Footnotes:

-there is advertising in surfaces
-reflections are self-absorbed
-adhesives move images
-some screens save themselves

Endnotes:

-set standards/standards set
-sprawling/scripted
-conditional context/compulsory content
-slouching towards Broadway/leaning toward Lafayette

Notes to self get lost in the city.

- Keith J. Varadi
