Reality is bent and molded in this two-person exhibition featuring works by Brad Parsons and Mikel Durlam. Parsons works with cast multiples of angelic collectables that are joined with an earthy glaze evoking a haunting reimagining of these kitschy figurines. A sculptural collage coated in decay, these ceramic pieces conjure up some distant, forgotten memory or childhood nightmare. Where Parsons' figures mold into each other to build eerie vignettes, Mikel Durlams paintings capture ephemeral scenarios within colorful geometric prisons. Displaced scenes collide and ignore the spatial plane as his subjects live and breath in a chaotic shift.

Brad Parsons (born 1984, Massachusetts) lives in Queens, NY and received a BFA in ceramics from Pratt Institute in 2007. His personal work has been shown across the country in numerous group exhibitions, most notably in Body at the Surface Library in Easthampton, NY and Skin at the Thomas Hunter Project Space. Parsons’ first solo show, Hell in a Handbasket at the Greenwich House Storefront Gallery, featured a giant flock of ceramic birds floating above an altarpiece of encrusted, post-apocalyptic domestic figurines. Brad Parsons completed a two year residency at Greenwich House Pottery in 2012 and now works as an instructor and studio technician.

Mikel Durlam (b. 1977 Fort Dodge, Iowa) is an artist and musician based in Brooklyn. He is a member of the art collaborative The Fluff Construct, the performance art / glam rock ensemble Glitter Chariot, and co-founder of 100 Coat Gallery (Iowa) and THE NEW LIFE Project Moment (Morocco). Durlam studied installation, performance and sculpture at University of South Florida, Alfred University (NY) and University of Northern Iowa and has been an artist in residence at Pro Artibus (Finland), Wassaic Project (NY) and Vector (Romania).He has performed and held solo exhibits nationally and internationally, including NYC, Chicago, Alaska and Japan. This spring Mikel Durlam’s video works will be exhibited at Pro Artibus Gallery in Raseborg, Finland and the 5th International Video Art Festival in Camaguey, Cuba.

Brad Silk (b. 1984. Danvers, MA) lives in Brooklyn and works at Cindy Rucker Gallery in NYC. Upcoming curatorial projects include an exhibition at Projekt722 Brooklyn, NY., an online exhibition with Culture Hall, two consecutive shows at Cindy Rucker Gallery New York, NY., and the Permanent Collection of Queens Community House Queens, NY. Silk is a visual artist whose work has been featured in a solo exhibition at Bear Gallery Beverly, MA. and group exhibitions at Porter Mill Studio Beverly, MA., Greenpoint Gallery Brooklyn, NY., PS122 Gallery New York, NY., Copley Society Boston, MA. In addition to visual work, he has also been a featured contributor to The Discerning Brute Blog writing about the role of ethics and sustainability in the arts.
